At Resocode, your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it when you use the Resocode platform — whether you are a student enrolled in a program or a visitor browsing the platform.

1. What We Collect

From Students (Users)

When you create a Resocode account and use the platform, we collect:

  • Account information: Name, email address, phone number, password (encrypted).
  • Profile information: Experience level, program enrollment, learning preferences.
  • Learning data: Course progress, project submissions, code review history, certificates earned.
  • Usage data: Pages visited, features used, login timestamps.

From Visitors

When visitors browse the Resocode website, we may collect:

  • Contact information: Name, email, phone number (provided through contact or enrollment forms).
  • Interest data: Program interest, experience level (provided through forms).
  • Device data: Browser type, IP address, device information (collected automatically).

2. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Resocode platform and all its features.
  • Manage course enrollments, progress tracking, and certificates for students.
  • Send transactional emails (enrollment confirmations, certificate notifications, program updates).
  • Communicate important updates about your account or the platform.
  • Improve the platform based on usage patterns and feedback.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and security threats.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your learning data for advertising purposes.

3. Data Storage & Security

  • All data is stored on secure, encrypted cloud servers.
  • Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms (bcrypt) and are never stored in plain text.
  • API communication is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS.
  • Access to production databases is restricted to authorized personnel only.
  • We perform regular security reviews and keep our dependencies updated.

While we implement strong security measures, no system is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute protection against all threats.

4. Data Privacy

Your learning data is private. Your course progress, project submissions, code review history, and certificates are only accessible to you and your assigned mentors/instructors. Other students cannot see or access your data.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

  • MongoDB Atlas: Database hosting and management.
  • Cloudinary: Image storage and delivery (for certificates, profile images).
  • Vercel: Application hosting and deployment.
  • Nodemailer / SMTP providers: Sending transactional emails.
  • Payment gateways: Processing online payments (when enabled).

These services process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies. We only share the minimum data necessary for them to perform their function.

6. Cookies

The Resocode platform uses cookies and local storage for essential functionality:

  • Authentication tokens: To keep you logged in securely.
  • Preferences: To remember your theme and program selections.
  • Session data: To maintain your learning session state.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We may use analytics cookies (like Vercel Analytics) to understand how the platform is used and improve it.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data stored on the platform.
  • Update your account and profile information at any time from your dashboard.
  • Delete your account and all associated data by contacting us.
  • Export your data upon request.
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time.

After account deletion, your data is retained for 30 days (in case you want to reactivate) and then permanently deleted.

8. Data Retention

  • Active account data is retained as long as your subscription is active.
  • Email logs are automatically deleted after 90 days.
  • After account closure, data is retained for 30 days, then permanently deleted.
  • Anonymized analytics data may be retained indefinitely for improving the platform.

9. Children's Privacy

Resocode is intended for users aged 16 and older. Users under 18 must have parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or through the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
